Recap of the Pohanka Automotive Annual Kickball Game
FAIRFAX COUNTY, VIRGINIA. On Friday July 18, 2025, on what many believe was the hottest day of the year (or any year), spectators witnessed a surprising outcome in the annual Pohanka Automotive Group Kickball Game. Team Salif proved a little too strong in the end for Team Luke. The final score, for those who were counting, was 14-6. This was Team Luke’s first known defeat in kickball.
Highlights from the game included Team Salif’s starting right fielder Catherine Tenney making an improbable, over-the-shoulder, running catch. Several bystanders were overheard saying “that was one of the better catches [we] have ever seen in kickball.”
Team Luke’s late attempt at a comeback fell short for several reasons, not least of which was the defensive contribution of Kurt Lesho. Mr. Lesho showed agility, steady hands and calmness under duress while making several catches, including three in one inning.
Congratulations to Team Salif for a much-deserved victory. Only time will tell whether Team Luke will avenge its loss when the two teams face off in 2026.
